Mentor with Buntu
Help shape the next generation of African builders.
Buntu mentors are practitioners who've walked a path, and are willing to spend fifteen minutes with someone walking it now. No curriculum to teach, no quota to hit. Just your time, your story, and one student at a time.
The future we're building together
Why your fifteen minutes matter more than you think.
A continent that mentors itself.
For too long, African talent has had to look outside the continent for the guidance it needed. Every Buntu mentor is one more proof that the people who've made it are reaching back.
Talent unlocked, not extracted.
We're building the network that helps brilliant young people stay rooted, build at home, and define what success looks like on their own terms.
Fifteen minutes, compounding.
One honest conversation can change a decision, a year, a life. Multiply that across hundreds of mentors and thousands of students, that's the future we're building.
What being a Buntu mentor looks like
Light commitment. Real depth.
One to four fifteen-minute sessions a month, you set the rhythm.
Booked on your own calendar, never overbooked.
Only matched with students whose path actually aligns with yours.
Video, voice, or async written, whichever fits the day.
Pause or step away anytime, no awkward conversation.
A real human team in the loop, not just a platform.
Why mentors stay
Not perks. Meaning.
- A curated cohort of motivated, vetted students who actually show up.
- A public profile in the Buntu mentor directory, your story, your way.
- An invitation to the annual Buntu Hub gathering across the continent.
- Co-authorship credit on cohort research when your insight shapes it.
- A peer network of mentors and operators building across Africa.
- The quiet satisfaction of being the call you wish you'd had.

Honest answers
Things people usually ask.
How much time will this really take?+
On average, between 30 and 60 minutes a month. You choose between one and four 15-minute sessions, and you control your calendar.
Can I pause if life gets busy?+
Yes. You can pause your availability with one click, no awkward email needed. We won't book you while you're paused.
Who decides which students I meet?+
You do, in the sense that students only see mentors whose path aligns with theirs. You can decline any booking with one tap.
Do mentors get paid?+
No, Buntu mentorship is pro-bono. This is the way we collectively give back to the next generation. We do invest in mentors through community, recognition and access to the annual gathering.
Can I mentor in French (or another language)?+
Absolutely. List every language you're comfortable mentoring in, we match by language as well as expertise.
